India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour has heaped praise on white-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Rathour, who replaced Sanjay Bangar as the Indian batting coach, feels Rohit Sharma is the best batsman in the world, on his day, especially in the white-ball format. Rohit is the most consistent batsman in the limited-overs format and he can demolish any attack if he gets going. In fact, it is hard for the bowlers to keep Rohit Sharma in check if he gets going in his innings.

Furthermore, Rohit generally goes on to get a big score if he gets settled at the crease. Rohit is the solitary International batsman to score three double centuries and he changes gears like a sports car after crossing the 100-run mark. The flamboyant batsman has the skills to find the boundaries at will after scoring his century.

In fact, Rohit also has eight scores of more than 150 in the ODI format, which goes to show his consistency.  The Indian opener is a treat to the eyes and he can leave everyone surprised with his strokeplay.

Vikram Rathour said while talking to Sportskeeda, “On his day, I think he is the best batsman in the world, especially in white-ball cricket. He has got great gameplans in white-ball cricket and that is being converted to Test cricket as well.”

Rathour further added that the secret to Rohit’s consistency is his strokeplay. Rohit can get the boundaries without taking a lot of risks and he has the skills to find the gaps. The right-hander backs himself in playing the proper cricketing shots, which is the key to his success.

“His strength is that he can take bowlers apart without taking any risk. He keeps on playing the cricketing shots, keeps backing his ability to hit straight. Without playing too many risky shots, he can still play at a phenomenal strike rate. So, that I think is his strength and on his day as I said earlier he can be the best player in the world, without doubt.”

Rohit Sharma has done a fine job for the Indian team and he would like to continue the good show. The right-hander was also able to grab his chances in the Test fold against South Africa as he had scored 529 runs in three matches. However, he was ruled out for the series against New Zealand. Rohit would like to be at his best for the series against Australia.
