Besides the more popular options, some unexpected candidates not only exist but seem like good fits as well for the Brooklyn Nets head coaching position.

Tyronn Lue, Jason Kidd, Tom Thibodeau, and Mark Jackson might begin feeling dizzy having spun around on head coaching carousel for some time now, and with the Brooklyn Nets still surrendering the position to interim head coach Jacque Vaughn, one might look to hop off and seize the position this summer. But beyond this group, some more unexpected candidates not only exist but seem like good fits as well.

Although it remains a fact still difficult for one to wrap their head around, Kenny Atkinson no longer owns the Brooklyn Nets head coaching position. Despite seemingly turning the franchise around after pulling them out from a gutter which they remained trapped inside for multiple years while still paying for Billy King’s sins, Atkinson and the Nets parted ways.

Ironically, Atkinson’s successful efforts may have been his own undoing, as the culture change and winning tendencies which he installed attracted both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to Brooklyn last summer, both of whom were rumored as the primary culprits behind the team’s break-up with Atkinson. Nonetheless, life goes on and the Nets need someone at the helm as they move forward with championship aspirations for next year.

But finding someone to balance both the skills and personalities across this team’s roster stands as a tall task for GM Sean Marks.

Beyond that, Brooklyn’s “win now” mentality applies even further pressure on Marks to make the correct decision, as any mistake might cost the Nets an opportunity to attain their first NBA title.

But while owning a roster filled to the brim with talent on the contrary to other teams looking for a new coach such as the New York Knicks or the Cleveland Cavaliers, a scenario involving the Nets settling for their second or third choice seems highly unlikely.

But although some names might shine brighter than others with their prestigious backgrounds or their familiarity with the franchise, the Nets might throw us a no-look pass and sign someone unexpected.
